Volume 15: The Shifting 🪶

G'day,

I wonder if you feel it, too.

I will call it the shifting.

New season, perhaps? Familiar, yet elevated somehow.

Here's me in this moment.

Hope you can join me.

This edition I'm playing with words and art.
and systems.

The current system:
First I draw, then I write, then I scan my art, upload it onto a little USB drive, transfer that over to my computer, open it, airdrop it over to my ipad, edit the scanned documents, airdrop it back to my computer, format it with what I am writing (I am currently in this stage right now) and then send it to the Captain to package for you.

It is a system that works. The ritual of it I enjoy.
Feels earned. Feels real.

So in the spirit of the real, please enjoy these short (yet meaningful) reflections. And remember...

Lately, Country has been teaching me about birds.

I am in swooping season, which means when I walk past people on the street, I enter their bubble by saying “hello” or “g’day”.

I tipped my hat to an old bird the other day and she smiled and tipped her imaginary hat back at me.

kaya.

I have been reflecting much on birds.

I am asking people (some I know, and some by means of swooping),
“If you were a bird, what bird would you be?”

I encourage you to ask people this question.

Watch who they become in that moment. Be silent and watch them like an owl, and they will reveal everything you need to know about themselves.

I have met mostly Parrots and Galahs.
One Peacock.
A few Djitti Djittis.

I met an English Puffin at The Waiting Room and he was the boss of an “Almost Eagle” (his words).

It is very interesting to observe these birds.

They all sing.

Most are quiet songs.

They all like to sing about themselves too:
“I am, I will, I feel, I think, I love, I hate, I never...”

I, I, I.

These are healthy tunes to an owl who listens proper.

An unidentified bird told me today that he was an idiot.

I thought he must be a lying bird.

Then this lying bird and I walked on Country and made ourselves strong by observing flocks and congregations and paddlings at Boodjar Moorliny.

I wonder what bird you may be.

Not a caged one, that’s for sure.

I bet you’re a colourful one.
Or perhaps a wise one.

I wonder what season you’re in too.

Are you building nests?
Are you hunting for something delicious?

I know.

You are sitting with the Magpie at the freshwater creek and looking at your own reflection.

kaya.

And so this time too will come to pass - this moment, I mean.

You will flutter away and join your moort.

As is the nature of moort.

I ask of you one thing before you go, “Almost Eagle”.

Will you go all in?

kaya.

Authentic You

Sydney

Friday 5th June

Botanical Gardens

Authentic You is designed to slow you down and reconnect you with yourself.

Sydney is calling me back again and I'm looking for people ready to remember who they are.

If that's you, then I'll see you there.

One of the Pilgrims once described the experience as "profound", (which I really love).

Anyway, hope yous all are keeping well. That's all from me. Next two weeks are going to be hekkas for me with rec week coming up and all that.
